A Roundtable of Mantis
Explosions! 2002, Huizhou City, Guangdong, China
At the request of Sifu Wong Yu Hua , a
number of junior, senior and elder Southern Mantis masters,
dating back to circa 1920's, gathered in 2002, in Huizhou,
Guangdong. It's about an hour's drive from Pingshan Town
and most of the mantis brothers there, had not seen each other
for many years.
The gathering included those who in the
1930's and 40's, were among the in-crowd of Chu Gar and Iron
Ox, as well as, Kwongsai Mantis. Some having studied all
three branches of Som Dot's teaching, did not hesitate to
speak of the past or show their hand.
 
Sifu Wong Yu
Hua, Host, leads the way (L). RDH and the China Mantis
"old" in-crowd circa 2002 (R) That is Elder Lok Wei Ping
(80+) in the middle! Look down in the middle and you can
make out his big ear! Elder Lok is small in
stature but undisputable in Mantis! Watch his Som Bo Gin
and Plum Flower staff sets. Sadly, some have since
passed.
